LARTISTE: Biography Of A Genius
Born in a small Moroccan village, in the south of Marrakesh, on July 4, 1985, Youssef Akdim better known under the name of Lartiste is a Franco-Moroccan singer and rapper. At the qge of 8, he moved in to France with his family in Seine-Saint-Denis in Aulnay-sous-Bois, then in Bondy.
Career :
He spent a quiet childhood and at the age of 8, they moved in with their father in Paris. He evokes his childhood with a smile and keeps only memories of joy and moments of sharing.
At 13, he joined his first rap group Curse for Music. In 2006, he adopted his nickname Lartiste and released his first EP Évasion whose Instrumental, singing and production are exclusively managed by himself. In parallel with his musical career, h ebecame a specialist educator in Montfermeil. In 2010, he releases his first mixtape Rap 1.9.
He signed in major, at the rap label Hostile Records, a division of EMI and recorded his first album named Lalbum and released it in 2013. Due to issues with his label, he will not meet success and the artist will take the decision of becoming independent.
After signing with SINIK, he signed a successful collaboration on the title « Disconnected » (2014) with DJ Hamida, Rim’K and Kayna Samet. Lartiste takes the thread of his inspiration for a second album released in March 2015. Titled« Fenomeno »;his second album was released on March 30, 2015, worn by the single Polygame. It will sell 40,000 copies and feature Rim’K, Dr. Bériz, Double M and Clayton Hamilton.
In September 2015, he signed under the label Monster Marin Corporation of Maitre Gims and released in the wake the album « Maestro »which comes out March 4, 2016 and will know a real commercial success, with the singles Trop de Flow and Maestro.
In 2016, he leaves the Monstre Marin Corporation label and creates his own label Purple Money (in license with Because Music) which has several artists including Marwa Loud, and released his fourth album « Clandestino ». The title « Chocolate » with Awa Imani offers him a wide media exposure. In Laurent Ruquier’s « On une plus couche », he reveals that besides the festive side, the song Chocolat is a hymn to black women and a denunciation of racism.
On July 17, 2017, Lartiste returns with 7 new titles compiled in a free project called« Project Zero », available on Facebook. In this compilation, the title « C’est une frappe » in collaboration with Dj Hamida iscertified single of gold.
In 2018, the artist reached a peak of popularity with the title « Mafiosa » which is No. 1 in sales in France. The album « Grandestino » also has the honor of appearing among the best French sales.
Victim of a traumatic physical aggression, the Franco-Moroccan artist then slows the pace of his performances to better return to record in 2019 with the highly successful « Latin Quarter, Vol.1 » whose tracklist was unveiled. The project will include 11 featurings with among others Fianso, Landy, Koba La D, Heuss the bastard. The first extract is Social whose clip was unveiled on December 26, 2018.
Today the artist is one of the most influential artists on the French rap scene nowadays and one thing is certain, we will still hear from him for a long time.
