Biography : Youth

Craig Ashley David was born on May 5th 1981 in the english city of Southampton. 
Musician, singer & songwriter, he inherited his rythm & his love of music from his father native of Grenada. 
Brought up by his mother after the separation of his parents, Craig studied at the Southampton city College.

His father, bass guitarist in a reggae band, opens for him the way to the music. 
Craig regulary accompanies him to local dance clubs and when he turned 14, begins composing his own first songs. 
DJ on locale pirate radio, then DJ at a bar, he’ll finally be much appreciated professional DJ in a discotheque. 
From the beggining, Craig showed his definite taste for hip-hop, garage & RnB styles.

First hit : Fill me in

His carrier will really start after winning a singing contest that allows it to record song with the group « Damage » 
It was on this occasion that he met his first record producer : Mark Hill. 
First contract with Wildstar label and release of « Fill me in« , his first single. A resounding success ! 
Thanks to this title charted at number 1 on the UK charts, he released his first album in august 2000. « Born to do it » : a singular universe between pop & RnB !

Career

A few singles of the second album will be distinguished, but not with the same success. 
His longing to be free became palpable and he have the desire to make an album that was a true likeness of himself. 
As a message to his producer, he’ll record his fourth album under the name « Trust me »…

2009, new contract with Universal Music Group and release in march 2010 of « signed sealed delivered », his new album. 
It’ll be followed by a british garage compilation in collaboration with DJ Spoony. 
But his DJ past is catching up with him… He began to organise and animate private parties and will quickly turn this idea into a tour and worldwide success.

It’ll take until 2015 before he reached the amazing success of his beginnings. 
Recorded in duo with Big Narstie, his follow-up single « when the bassline drops » went certified gold.

From the earliest days of his career, Craig have enjoyed working with differents artists. 
Collaboration with Sting for « Rise and fall », sample of « let’s dance » (he’ll receive the congratulations of David Bowie himself), cover of Stevie Wonder with among others « Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I’m Yours », or the Temptations with their « Papa was a Rolling Stones ». 
His carrier is also marked by this duet with the Swiss DJ Remady on « Do It On My Own« . 
For his sixth album « following my intuition », he will record two new featurings with Harwell & Sigala.

Nominated many, many times for Brit Awards & Grammy awards, Craig David is definitively a beloved & respected artist. His last studio album « the time is now » is released on january 2018.
