LATIN GRAMMYS 2025: The Year of Duality – Bad Bunny (5) and Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso (5) Tie for Top Honors!
A Historic Night: Bad Bunny’s Cultural Win vs. Alternative Innovation
The 26th annual Latin Grammy Awards, held in Miami, delivered a historic verdict: global Reggaeton titan Bad Bunny tied with Argentine iconoclasts Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso, with both acts taking home five awards each.
The ceremony was a testament to the Latin music scene’s power, celebrating both the commercial might of the superstar and the critically acclaimed genius of the alternative scene.
Bad Bunny: Album of the Year Paves the Road to the Super Bowl
Bad Bunny, the night’s heavy favorite, secured the most prestigious prize: Album of the Year for his acclaimed work, DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS.
This win validates the album’s cultural significance—a collection that spurred a love fest with his Puerto Rican roots and ultimately paved the road for his upcoming Super Bowl LX halftime show performance.
Collecting his award, the star dedicated the victory to young people: “Never stop dreaming and being yourselves. Never forget where you come from without looking at where you’re going… We chose music.”
Bad Bunny’s 5 Key Wins:
Album of the Year:DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS.
Best Urban Music Album:DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS.
Best Urban/Urban Fusion Performance and Best Urban Song for “DtMF“.
Best Reggaetón Performance for “Voy A Llevarte Pa PR“.
Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso: The Argentine Upset (5 Wins)
The biggest upset of the night came from the Argentine duo Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso, who happily marry hip-hop with soul, electronica, and stylized pop. Their five wins placed them directly on par with Bad Bunny, marking a monumental victory for the alternative scene.
The duo’s 5 Key Wins:
Best Alternative Music Album:Papota.
Best Alternative Song: “#Tetas“.
Best Pop Song: “El Día Del Amigo“.
Best Short Form Music Video (“#Tetas“) and Best Long Form Music Video (Papota).
The duo, known for their elaborate irony, accepted their awards with deadpan humor, though they softened later to thank their mothers. Producers Rafa Arcaute and Federico Vindver, who worked on their winning album, also tied for Producer of the Year.
General Field Surprises and Key Winners
Ironically, neither Bad Bunny nor the Argentine duo won the top two general field awards (Record or Song of the Year), where they were inexplicably competing against themselves with two nominations each.
Song of the Year went to Colombian superstar Karol G for her hugely successful hit, “Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido.” Co-writer Edgar Barrera took home Songwriter of the Year for the third consecutive time.
Record of the Year was won by Spanish superstar Alejandro Sanz for his beautiful track, “Palmeras en el jardín.” Sanz even joked, “Benito, I stole it from you, forgive me,” as he accepted the award.
Best New Artist went to Mexican pop/synth singer/songwriter Paloma Morphy.
Following closely with three awards each were Brazil’s Liniker and Natalia Lafourcade.
