A Sample of History: Chris Brown and Bryson Tiller Deliver R&B Gold

The R&B game got a major shake-up when global superstar Chris Brown released his second single of the year, « It Depends », featuring fellow contemporary R&B favorite Bryson Tiller. The track, released on July 25, 2025, instantly soared to the charts, fueled by fan anticipation and a clever sample of a 90s classic.

« It Depends » is a sturdy banger produced by RIOTUSA and Nico Baran. It prominently samples the bridge of Usher’s 1997 classic, “Nice & Slow,” instantly giving the track a nostalgic yet fresh feel.

The single was released due to overwhelming fan demand (“Team Breezy”) after Brown teased a snippet on Instagram, garnering over 110,000 comments in a show of force for the R&B star.

The song finds both singers trading verses as they pursue romantic interests who may be currently involved with others. It’s an exercise in confidence and smooth seduction, with Brown crooning: “I guess I done ran out of options / Can’t keep fantasizing, oh-oh / I’m calling you so we can lock in.”
