Godson Epelle, better known as 1da Banton, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and record producer. His music is a unique blend of reggae, dancehall, afrobeat and traditional sounds from Rivers, his home state.

He caught the attention of many when his mellifluous single Way Up was used as the theme song for the 2018 Big Brother Naija show excerpt.

He gained greater notoriety after the release of « No Wahala », one of the tracks on his album Original Vibe Machine, released in 2021. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken listed the song as his favorite song of the year in his 2021 Spotify playlist.

In 2022, 1Da Banton released a remix of « No Wahala » featuring Kizz Daniel and Tiwa Savage. He has also collaborated with Jamaican singer Kranium, Ghanaian dancehall musician Stonebwoy and Nigerian artists Zlatan, Seyi Shay and Blaqbonez.

He then released Jowo, where he introduced a new sound that captivated his audience.

Godson Epelle, plus connu sous le nom de 1da Banton, est un chanteur nigérian, auteur-compositeur et producteur. Sa musique est un mélange unique de reggae, dancehall, afrobeat et de sons traditionnels de Rivers, son état d’origine.

Il a attiré l’attention de beaucoup lorsque son single mélodieux Way Up a été utilisé comme chanson thème de l’extrait de l’émission Big Brother Naija 2018.

Il a gagné une plus grande notoriété après la sortie de « No Wahala », l’un des titres de son album Original Vibe Machine, sorti en 2021. Le secrétaire d’État américain Antony Blinken a classé la chanson comme sa chanson préférée de l’année dans sa liste de lecture Spotify de 2021.
