Montell Jordan, born December 3, 1968 in Los Angeles, California, is an American singer, songwriter and producer who left his mark on the ’90s with his iconic tracks blending R&B, soul and hip-hop. With over 20 million albums sold worldwide, he is best known for his 1995 hit « This Is How We Do It », which dominated the U.S. charts, topping the Billboard Hot 100 for seven consecutive weeks. The song, which became a party anthem, was also certified platinum by the RIAA.
After starting his musical career at Pepperdine University, Montell Jordan signed with Def Jam Recordings in 1992, which enabled him to collaborate with renowned artists such as LL Cool J, Jay-Z and 2Pac, cementing his place in the American musical landscape. His critically acclaimed debut album, « Montell Jordan », released in 1995, was followed by other projects, including « More » in 1996 and « Jordan » in 1999.
