Born on November 28, 1974, in Angeles City, Philippines, Allan Pineda Lindo, known by his stage name Apl.de.Ap, is a prominent figure in international hip-hop. Born to a Filipino mother and an African-American father, he was adopted as a teenager by an American family and moved to Los Angeles. There, he met will.i.am, with whom he founded the group Black Eyed Peas, marking the start of an exceptional musical career.
With the Black Eyed Peas, Apl.de.Ap achieved global success. The album “The E.N.D.” (2009) was certified multi-platinum, driven by hits like “Boom Boom Pow” and “I Gotta Feeling,” which topped international charts. The group won several Grammy Awards, including Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for “I Gotta Feeling.”
Alongside his work with the group, Apl.de.Ap has pursued a solo career. He has collaborated with renowned artists such as Bruno Mars, Charice, and more recently Sandara Park on the single “2 Proud.” He has also expressed a desire to work with Filipino artists like Lea Salonga and Sarah Geronimo.
In 2020, the Black Eyed Peas released the album “Translation,” exploring Latin sounds and collaborating with artists like Shakira, J Balvin, and Maluma. This project marked a turning point, expanding their audience and reinforcing their presence on the global music scene.
On November 11, 2022, the group released “Elevation,” their ninth studio album, blending English and Spanish with notable collaborations including Anitta, Daddy Yankee, David Guetta, Ozuna, Nicole Scherzinger, and Shakira. The album reached No. 13 on the U.S. Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart, No. 44 in Italy, and No. 89 in France.
Beyond music, apl.de.ap is a committed philanthropist. He founded the Apl.de.Ap Foundation, which supports educational and medical initiatives in the Philippines. In recognition of his efforts, he received the KDR Icon Award for Music and Philanthropy in 2023.
Despite a visual impairment caused by congenital nystagmus, Apl.de.Ap has turned this condition into a strength, developing exceptional hearing that enhances his music.
In April 2024, the Black Eyed Peas performed at Paris La Défense Arena, delivering a memorable show to their French fans. In December 2024, they headlined the Starlite Christmas in Madrid, solidifying their status as pop music icons.
In 2025, Apl.de.Ap released the single “I Wish,” an emotional ballad marking his return as a solo artist, praised for its sincerity and artistic depth.
