Alyssa Michelle Stephens, professionally known as Latto, was born on December 22, 1998, in Columbus, Ohio, and raised in Atlanta, where she began rapping at the age of ten. She gained public recognition by winning the first season of The Rap Game in 2016 but declined the offered recording deal to maintain her artistic independence.

Her first commercial success came in 2019 with the single Bitch from da Souf, which was certified double platinum and entered the Billboard Hot 100. In 2020, she released her debut album Queen of da Souf under RCA Records, featuring hit singles like Muwop with Gucci Mane, which also achieved platinum status. In 2021, she officially adopted the stage name Latto, marking a pivotal evolution in her career.

The single Big Energy catapulted her onto the international scene, reaching number three on the Billboard Hot 100, earning triple platinum certification, and receiving a Grammy nomination. Her second album 777, released in 2022, debuted at number 15 on the Billboard 200 and went gold in the United States and New Zealand. In 2023, she teamed up with Cardi B on Put It on da Floor Again, a track that broke into the Hot 100’s top 15 and earned a platinum certification.

That same year, she became the first British female rapper to feature on a track with BTS member Jungkook on Seven, which topped global charts. In 2024, Latto released her third studio album Sugar Honey Iced Tea, which was met with critical acclaim. The album debuted at number 15 on the Billboard 200 and achieved gold certification. Its lead single Energy earned her another Grammy nomination. In early 2025, she dropped a remix of Blick Sum featuring Playboi Carti, accompanied by a widely praised music video.

As a live performer, Latto launched a 22-date North American tour in October 2024, joined by Mariah The Scientist and Karrahbooo. She performed in major venues such as the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, MGM Music Hall in Boston, and YouTube Theater in Los Angeles. In June 2024, she delivered a standout performance at the BET Awards with a medley of her new songs Big Mama and Sunday Service. Her 2025 tour has already been announced, including several European stops, notably in Berlin.
