Willie Maxwell (born June 7, 1990), better known by his stage name Fetty Wap, is an American rapper. A native of Paterson, New Jersey, he is best known for his 2014 hit single \u00ab\u00a0Trap Queen\u00a0\u00bb, which peaked at number 2 on the United States Billboard Hot 100. He signed with 300 Entertainment in November 2014 and is set to release a self-titled mixtape in 2015.<\/p>\n
Wille Maxwell was raised in a housing project in Paterson, New Jersey, and is of Haitian descent.<\/p>\n
He began taking interest in music in 2013. Initially starting off as only a rapper, he later decided to start singing as well because he \u00ab\u00a0wanted to do something different.\u00a0\u00bb He was nicknamed \u00ab\u00a0Fetty\u00a0\u00bb because he was always known for getting money. \u00ab\u00a0Wap\u00a0\u00bb was added to the end of the name to perform under in tribute to his favorite rapper Gucci Mane.<\/p>\n
Wap’s single was released in early 2014 titled \u00ab\u00a0Trap Queen\u00a0\u00bb. He made the song in February 2014, but it did not start to get recognition until mid-November 2014, and since it has become a gold record and has over 10 million plays on soundcloud. His debut mixtape, Fetty Wap: The Mixtape was originally set for release in February 2015 but was delayed because he continued making new songs.<\/p>\n
His recently released a remix of his song \u00ab My Way \u00bb featuring Drake which was very well received by the audience and the media, calling it the song that will soundtrack our summer.<\/p>\n
He started a promotional tour what will take him all across America during the summer of 2015<\/p>\n
When he was a child, Wap developed glaucoma in both eyes. His doctors were unable to save his left eye, in which he currently wears an ocular prosthesis.<\/p>\n
