Erykah Badu, whose real name is Erica Abi Wright, is an American soul/hip-hop/jazz/R&B singer, born on February 26, 1971 in Dallas, Texas.

Erykah Badu, « the queen of neo soul », has revolutionized music with her flamboyant and unique combinations that have changed the music scene.

Badu has been one of the most acclaimed artists in the American and international scene. Her subsequent albums Mama’s Gun and Worldwide Underground are an absolute confirmation of quality and talent, releasing incredible tracks such as « Bag Lady » and « Love of My Life », the song that would give her another Grammy in 2002.

In 2008 and 2010, Badu released New Amerykah, a double album which would be her last studio material. Although she has not released anything for 10 years now, her music remains current for its honesty and spiritualism, for its magic and relevance in the music scene.

Erykah Badu, de son vrai nom Erica Abi Wright, est une chanteuse américaine de soul/hip-hop/jazz/R&B, née le 26 février 1971 à Dallas, au Texas.

Erykah Badu, « la reine de la neo soul », a révolutionné la musique avec son flamboyant et ses combinaisons uniques qui ont changé la scène musicale.

Derrière chaque grand genre musical, il y a toujours un grand artiste qui a osé défier les sons préexistants de l’époque. C’est précisément le cas d’Erykah Badu, « la reine de la neo soul », qui, depuis 1997, a révolutionné la musique avec son tout nouveau son.

Erykah est une militante ! Gagner des fortunes ne fait pas la richesse d’une personne, mais son engagement à faire progresser la communauté la rend plus prospère. Dans cette optique, la reine du néo-soul est une personne très riche.

En 1997, Erykah a lancé sa propre fondation à but non lucratif, Beautiful Love Incorporated Non-Profit Development. Cette fondation a pour objectif le développement local des jeunes des banlieues défavorisées par le biais de son art, et sa première tâche a été de mettre en place une base opérationnelle.

Ainsi, Badu a réhabilité et relancé the Black Forest, dont la scène est adaptée aux spectacles et aux représentations. Elle a hébergé des concerts gratuits ou destinés à collecter un financement, comme ceux de Prince, Snoop Dogg, Jill Scott, Talib Kweli, et bien d’autres. Parallèlement, elle a collaboré avec des enfants pauvres et affectés par le VIH en Afrique en 2003.
