Julian Ricardo Marley est l’un des enfants de la grande fratrie de Bob Marley. Né le 4 juin 1975 à Londres, Julian Marley est un musicien reggae, comme son père.
Julian montre un intérêt pour la musique dès son plus jeune âge et apprend en autodidacte la basse, le clavier, la batterie et la guitare. Il enregistre d’ailleurs sa toute première démo studio dans la maison familiale, à l’âge de 5 ans.
En 1989, Julian collabore avec ses aînés, Ziggy et Stephen et créent ensemble le label Ghetto Youths Crew sur lequel ils sortiront nombre de projets communs. Il sort son premier album Lion in the Morning en 1996, qui rend hommage à ses origines jamaïcaines et britanniques, sources de fierté et d’inspiration. Son meilleur album, Awake, qu’il sort en 2009, sera récompensé d’un Grammy Award du « Meileur album reggae ».
Julian Marley sort relativement peu d’albums studio en solo, mais participe à de nombreux projets au sein du groupe The Uprising et en tant qu’instrumentiste, notamment sur l’album primé The Miseducation de Lauryn Hill.

Julian showed an interest for music at an early stage in his life and taught himself bass, keyboard, drums and guitar. Besides, he recorded his very first studio demo in the family residence at the age of 5.
In 1989, Julian collaborated with his elder brothers, Ziggy and Stephen and together they created the Ghetto Youths Crew label, on which they will release numerous joint projects. He released his first album Lion in the Morning in 1996, which pays tribute to his Jamaican and British roots as a source of pride and inspiration. His best album, Awake, released in 2009 will be certified with a prestigious « Best Reggae Album » Grammy Award.
Julian Marley released relatively few solo albums, but took part to several projects as part of The Uprising‘s band or as an instrumentalist. He contributes, among others, to the composition of the award-winning album The Miseducation.
