Biographie (en français)

Cinquième d’une famille de sept enfants, il est le frère de la rappeuse Stefflon Don (qui est la compagne de la star africaine Burna Boy, ça c’est pour les Gossips).

Dutchavelli a commencé sa carrière sous le nom de Dutch en 2016 en sortant des chansons telles que  » New Jack City  » tout en faisant des apparitions sur Rinse FM. D’autres ennuis judiciaires impliquant une accusation d’arme à feu en 2018 ont freiné sa carrière pendant deux autres années alors qu’il était emprisonné en détention provisoire (il a ensuite été acquitté de l’accusation principale mais condamné pour une infraction relative aux témoins dans l’affaire). 

Après avoir été libéré sous licence, il a commencé à être reconnu en 2020 avec une série de succès qui a commencé avec ‘Only If You Knew’ qui a accumulé 20 millions de vues en huit mois. D’autres succès tels que « Surely » et des collaborations avec des artistes tels que Stormzy et M Huncho ont commencé à cimenter son nom comme l’un des principaux talents émergents de la scène de la drill.

Dutchavelli a été nommé sur la BBC Sound of… 2021. 10 artistes ont été nominés par des experts du secteur et des artistes tels que Stormzy, AJ Tracey et Billie Eilish.

Né à Birmigham, Dutchavelli a vécu plusieurs années dans sa jeunesse à Rotterdam avant de retourner avec sa famille à Londres d’où son accent néerlandais quand il rappe. Et il en joue bien sûr. Son visage dur et marqué est très vite ancré dans votre esprit sans oublier son charisme et cela dès la première vidéo.

Dans la culture populaire, Dutchavelli a donc acquis la réputation d’être considéré comme un individu dur. Cette réputation, associée à sa grande taille – il mesure 1,98 m – a conduit à une prolifération de mèmes à son sujet dans la culture populaire.

Dutchavelli a compris le business du rap et s’il continue son flow et ses productions seront des références en Europe et son succès grandissant, il attire des stars comme le canadien Drake qui lui fait des passes décisives sur ses réseaux sociaux.

The fifth of seven children, he is the brother of rapper Stefflon Don (who is the girlfriend of African star Burna Boy, that’s for the Gossips).

Dutchavelli began his career under the name Dutch in 2016, releasing songs such as « New Jack City » while making appearances on Rinse FM. Further legal troubles involving a gun charge in 2018 stalled his career for another two years while he was jailed on remand (he was later acquitted of the main charge but convicted of a witness violation in the case). 

After being released on license, he began to gain recognition in 2020 with a string of hits that began with ‘Only If You Knew’ which accumulated 20 million views in eight months. Other hits such as ‘Surely’ and collaborations with artists such as Stormzy and M Huncho began to cement his name as one of the top emerging talents in the drill scene.

Dutchavelli was named to the BBC Sound of… 2021. 10 artists were nominated by industry experts and artists such as Stormzy, AJ Tracey and Billie Eilish.

Born in Birmigham, Dutchavelli lived several years in his youth in Rotterdam before returning with his family to London, hence his Dutch accent when he raps. And he plays with it of course.
